But the moment I stepped foot on the jetty, what I saw had completely proved me wrong. Look at the crowd! I felt deflated.
By the time we reached Pangkor Island, it was already 4 o'clock in the evening. We rent a car, a motorcycle on the narrow and winding road probably is not a good idea. Immediately we checked in the "resort", not to mention it's dodgy. Well you can't expect much from a complimentary voucher, can you?Since it was still bright, we headed toward the Dutch Fort, one of the only two attractions. Though the island is not very big, it took us some time before we reached the destination. I was anticipating a spectacular Dutch Fort, something similar to Angkor Wat, maybe a smaller version. And this is it
lol...just the four walls, ain't that bad! And the sky was still bright! We adjourned to the next attraction - Fu Lin Kong Chinese Temple a.k.a the mini Great Wall of China. It really is nothing attractive, we snapped few photos and we were on our way back to the resort. At night, we had dinner at a restaurant recommended by the receptionist. "I personally like that one, I think it's the best." He claimed. Average, I would say.
The next day, after breakfast and bought some satay. We couldn't wait any longer but hurried back. Feeling exhausted, not rejuvenated at all.
Nothing special bout the journey home, but I am sad to say no matter where I go, I see endless palm plantations. No farms, no forests. We will eventually run out of food, the species are gone. Is this the 'sustainability' we want?
