Beware Citi Credit Card Holder!

I keep track of my credit card transactions to budget my expenses and before I make payments I always check whether the amount tallies with the statement. Indeed there were times when they did not. There was this Finance Charges of 4 cents. Yes 4 cents only. This always reminds me of an incident that an old lady who was very particular with every single cents of hers, realized every time she made a transaction, few cents were deducted from her account. She inquired and after investigation, a fraud was uncovered within the bank and this fraudster had made a lot of money out of these few cents!

The first time when I realized this happened which could possibly not the first time, I was very curious to know what was that about. I took the fuss to call up the call centre to check why were I charged which I knew the call itself would cost me more than 4 cents! At first she accused me for making the payment late which completely not making any sense. I even guided her to think by asking her when the due date was and when I did pay. At the end she just said she would revert the charges without any explanation. Fine!

Well it's not fine at all cause it happened again this year. So I called again, and this time they told me they had some kind of system error and he said he would revert for me. This is insane! Utterly insane cause it happened the 3rd time which made it the 2nd time this year. And the way he explained to me was like he had explained this umpteenth times everyday! I know in a financial institute even a few cents mistake is unforgivable and this is stupid because after I called so many times the so-call system error is not fixed! This makes me completely believe that it could be a fraud. How many people would just have ignored and paid or didn't even realize?

Though it was just few cents and the process actually costed me more than that, I am simply not happy being charged unreasonably for several times. So if you are one of the holders, I suggest you could take note of your statement, unless you don't mind someone making a little easy money out of you.

Of course they will charge you interest if you don't settle full payment and it will be itemised as interest charges which this is not the case.

hey, same thing happened at Public Bank before I think.... the guy took 1 cent from each account though. Obviously the 4 cent guy has a bigger appetite. Damm...
