"Break Away" to Pulau Pangkor

Whoever I asked about Pangkor Island, the answers were "It's nothing". I thought I would never come to this place, but since my sister gave me a 2-days-1-night voucher, here I am! I wouldn't expect anything, just 2 days of serenity away from the city life, I would be content and rejuvenated.

But the moment I stepped foot on the jetty, what I saw had completely proved me wrong. Look at the crowd! I felt deflated.By the time we reached Pangkor Island, it was already 4 o'clock in the evening. We rent a car, a motorcycle on the narrow and winding road probably is not a good idea. Immediately we checked in the "resort", not to mention it's dodgy. Well you can't expect much from a complimentary voucher, can you?

Since it was still bright, we headed toward the Dutch Fort, one of the only two attractions. Though the island is not very big, it took us some time before we reached the destination. I was anticipating a spectacular Dutch Fort, something similar to Angkor Wat, maybe a smaller version. And this is itlol...just the four walls, ain't that bad! And the sky was still bright! We adjourned to the next attraction - Fu Lin Kong Chinese Temple a.k.a the mini Great Wall of China. It really is nothing attractive, we snapped few photos and we were on our way back to the resort.

At night, we had dinner at a restaurant recommended by the receptionist. "I personally like that one, I think it's the best." He claimed. Average, I would say.

The next day, after breakfast and bought some satay. We couldn't wait any longer but hurried back. Feeling exhausted, not rejuvenated at all.

Nothing special bout the journey home, but I am sad to say no matter where I go, I see endless palm plantations. No farms, no forests. We will eventually run out of food, the species are gone. Is this the 'sustainability' we want?

I've witnessed cruelty to cat

What I saw on last Saturday morning was utterly inhumanity. I was from Ara Damansara heading toward LDP passing by the tunnel. I saw someone seemed to me more like an expatriate, walking briskly along the road shouldering a cat like a hunter with a rabbit. The cat was brutally beaten up. Immediately I felt a flip inside thinking what was going to happen to the cat. For god sake isn't there any authority can stop them from doing this? I couldn't believe what people are saying about the missing cats and dogs until I see it with my own eyes. Why can't they just eat grain and vegetables if they couldn't afford to instead of being such cruel???

I ♥ drumstick ice-cream

In year 2006 I was employed for a small project by a small company. My boss was a young energetic entrepreneur. Though I was working alone, I felt passionate and inspired.

Back then, my boss was always traveling around. From London to Australia, Beijing to Shanghai. I would say I only see him one third of the time I served the company. Most of the time we communicated through messengers and emails.

One day, I was feeling emotional and I had a :( emoticon as my messenger display message. Then I got a message from my boss, throwing me a question. 'What's wrong?'. 'Don't know. Just feeling down' I replied. What happened next was he insisted I stop what I was doing, get myself a chocolate and take a break. So I did. I had a chocolate drumstick ice-cream and it worked! I felt bliss.

Indeed, drumstick ice-cream at the right time does make me happy, but what actually had warmed me probably was not the ice-cream, could be the concern from a superior.

Don't keep it to yourselves!

Today Jason found a novel in an aircraft. Knowing I enjoy reading, he gave the book to me. He said someone must have left it. The book entitled 'Behaving Badly' authored by Isabel Wolff, which I reckon was not forgotten but purposely left behind by the owner.

Once I watched a documentary which narrated how people in Netherlands leaving behind the book wherever the owner finished reading it. This is to allow the next person who found the book to read it. For instance, someone sitting on the bench in a park finished reading a book, then leave the book behind on the bench so the next person who found the book can read it and do the same. I think this idea is absolutely practical.

Yes, I'm going to practice this! When I'm done reading the book. I'll leave it somewhere. I hope more and more people will do this. So will you spread the words and share this idea with your friends please? Thank you!
Thanks to Christine for letting me know the city is actually Netherlands. She also reminded me to make sure people will NOT treat the books as rubbish. So probably a post-it note will be handy in this case.

A short note from Christine: in Netherlands, the book actually owned by the government and thus, they'll have special mark/note in the book when u planned to left the book, make sure it's left in the proper place in order to fulfill your goal.

Shop till you drop!

I am obsessed by the shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. I even stayed up late reading notwithstanding the next day I had to work.

I believe when come to shopping, there are always time when we are shopaholics ourselves. The arts of devil showcased in the malls, overruled our mind and give zillions of reasons to the question "why do i need it?". I was once carried away by the Christmas shopping spree, swiping my plastic to the limit and ended up paying the debt over the new year!

How I wish we can just swipe and buy whatever we want and the bills just got paid by itself without bothering us! Probably the government can pay off the bills using the petrol subsidies that we no longer enjoy! Better than not knowing where does the RM30bil go.

Well, back to shopping. I can see 'sale' pasted on most of the windows in shopping malls. I don't really enjoy shopping during sale carnival because I can hardly find items on sale that I like and available in my size of petite. The shops are crowded and sometimes I can even see queues to the fitting rooms and till. After all, who wants to miss a chance to strike a bargain? Happy sale carnival

Walk-In Rent-A-Book

I think I have done a lot of reading this year. I didn't realize since when I have picked up such a habit that I can not resist to take a book out to read whenever I'm idle. Of course that doesn't mean I have many books.

Some people love to collect books, probably because they like to read the books over and over again. But that is very unlikely what I will do. Thus, I opt to rent books. By renting books I get to save money, space and even trees!

So where do I rent books? From Walk-In Rent-A-Book. Located in SS2 Petaling Jaya. Found this store ages ago when I stayed nearby there, they have actually relocated once but just nearby.

I like the hassle free system. There's no membership required. To rent a book, all you have to do is "buy" the book. When you're done reading within the given period, just "sell" back the book and you can have your deposit back, of course with the rental deducted.

I like to go back to this same store. They have varieties range of books. From novels to comics. Newspapers and magazines are available for sell too. And the scent of books collections, simply give me a homey sensation. The storefront of Walk-In Rent-A-Book. Located at 74, Grd Flr, Jalan SS2/60, 47300, PJ, Selangor, Malaysia. Contact No. +6012-329 1055.

Be a man!

No matter how hot a guy is, he turns me off if he keeps his nails long. Man with short nails gives an impression of he is tidy and clean. Trust me guys, you will be more macho with your nails trimmed. So please always trim ALL of your nails short!

Out of mind with boredom

Me and my colleague are so frustrated sitting in the office. We think of quiting everyday but hell we can't!
Out of a sudden he pinged me "search for Quitman in Lotus Notes, there's a guy called Quitman!" That's funny. Can you imagine how boring my job is? Argh~ I need a change!

Coffee Dilemma

I ♥ coffee, but I don't normally drink. Drinking coffee makes my heart race a little. Basically I'll try to avoid caffeine in my diet.
The colleague sits next to me drinks a cup of coffee every morning. Enveloped in the aroma of coffee is such an indulgence. The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf downstair across the street is tempting me to buy a cup of latte. Shall I go and get one? I'm craving...

[update]
I got myself a latte. I didn't know staffs get to enjoy 10% off. *grin* Despite I can feel my head is a little bit spinning right now, the latte is awesome. ^^v

Hot Stuff

Love faded every time in her relationships and she could not believe that love is the answer for the marriage. Until she met the hot stuff - gorgeous coffee guy who argued her theory and won her heart.
Just finished reading the book by Elaine Fox. Me too not sure whether love can be forever, at least I am not that old to experience one. Always, seeing old couples makes me wonder do they still love each other. Perhaps it was just the commitment that kept them married all these while. But when I see old couples holding hands lovingly, I wonder what has been boosting their loves for the past decades. Instead, I should be wondering how.

"Love means having to say you're sorry all the damn time, even when you don't mean it. Especially when you don't mean it." I love this quote from the book that I think I, and everyone should pick up. I know I know! I'm just too ego to say it most of the time!
